Before graduating from NYU's film program in 2004, Jody Lee Lipes directed and shot dozens of short films, and received multiple cinematography awards. Since, Lipes has lensed; Afterschool a narrative feature which premiered internationally at Cannes '08 (un certain regard), and domestically at the New York Film Festival '08, Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell a feature length documentary which premiered at the Berlinale '08 (panorama), and the first two seasons of the IFC TV series The Whitest Kids U'Know. In addition to creating short documentaries for the New York Times, Friends of the Highline, and Good Magazine, Lipes has shot and directed multiple spots for Amex (Emmy for best 30 second spot regional), AOL, Citibank and others. His music video resume includes The Shins, El-P, and Sony Records artist Josh Ritter. Jody is currently in pre-production as director/dp of Jerome Robbins' NY Export: Opus Jazz the film, a feature length dance film collaboration with New York City Ballet, and post on his own feature length documentary Brock Enright: Good Times Will Never Be The Same, which was selected for IFP's Spotlight on Docs '08. |
